Restoring Bipartisan Common-Sense Solutions to Greenwich: A Path to a Brighter Future
Fiscal Responsibility and Tax Relief:
Connecticut is among the highest-taxed states in the nation. Income tax, sales tax, property tax, excise tax and even hidden taxes. This rampant over-taxation hurts quality of life and stunts economic growth. It must stop. I support sensible tax relief measures for families, residents, and small business owners, and I will advocate for a reduction of wasteful government spending. By ensuring taxpayer dollars are used efficiently, we can ease the financial burden on our residents and foster a prosperous local economy. My opponent keeps trying to raise taxes, but I will fight to keep taxes low. Fighting for sensible tax relief and fiscal responsibility is where I’ll get to work for you as your representative. Together we can build a stronger community for a prosperous and bright future. As your representative, I’ll fight for fiscal discipline, and I’ll support measures to maintain our state’s economic stability through disciplined budgeting and spending.
Addressing Connecticut's high tax burden (income, sales, property, and excise taxes).
Advocating for tax relief measures and reducing wasteful government spending.
Ensuring efficient use of taxpayer dollars to lessen financial strain and foster economic growth.
Supporting disciplined budgeting and spending to maintain economic stability.
Public Safety:
Our community thrives when residents feel safe. That’s why recent legislation making it harder for the police force to combat crime makes no sense to me. I am committed to amending these laws, and to strengthening our protections against violent crime and property offenses. Car theft, shoplifting, even assault and drug offenses are on the rise. Now more than ever, unnecessary limitations on law enforcement must be addressed if we are to ensure the safety and security of our community. We all want to live in a safe community. That peace of mind when you tuck your kids in at night, when you park your car, when you walk to the local park, is priceless. A commitment to public safety means letting our great local police force do their jobs. Crime may be on the rise, but good policy can make a real difference. My opponent supported a bill that handcuffs the police and makes it harder for them to do their job of keeping our community safe. I’m committed to reexamining that law and to preserving our community as the safe place we know and love.
Committed to strengthening laws to better combat violent crime and property offenses, including car theft.
Revisiting and amending recent legislative changes that have weakened crime-fighting capabilities.
Ensuring safety and security for the residents of Greenwich.
Local Control Over Housing:
8-30g isn’t new, but recent economic developments have converged to make it an urgent problem in Greenwich. Worse, proposed amendments aimed at taking away our local control of zoning will only accelerate the crisis. We need representatives in Hartford who will fight tirelessly to preserve our local zoning. Overdevelopment can’t be reversed, so we must vote out those who support relinquishing local control before it’s too late. My opponent voted in favor of the so-called Work Live Ride bill, a measure that puts local zoning at the mercy of Hartford and enables the kind of rampant overdevelopment that would destroy this community. Once that overdevelopment toothpaste is out of the tube – and we’re already seeing it happen – the damage will be tough if not impossible to reverse. As your state representative, I’ll fight to keep local control of zoning and advocate for sensible housing solutions.
Opposing the current 8-30g law and proposed amendments that increase Hartford’s control over local housing.
Fighting to preserve local control and prevent dense housing developments imposed by outsiders.
Advocating for housing decisions that reflect the community’s needs.
Women’s Health:
As a Republican, I am profoundly pro-family and am committed to working toward an America where every baby is born into a loving home. But I also understand there are circumstances where difficult decisions must be made, and I believe those decisions are best left up to individuals and their doctors.
Supporting Connecticut’s law allowing abortion up to viability.
Expanding access to birth control, including allowing pharmacists to prescribe it.
Ensuring women have the resources needed to make informed health choices.
High Taxes and Outmigration:
Background: Connecticut has been dominated by Democrats for much of the 21st century, with the party controlling the governor’s office and the legislature for extended periods. During this time, the state enacted a series of tax increases and regulatory policies aimed at funding public services and addressing budget shortfalls.
Problem: The Democratic supermajority’s reliance on tax increases to solve budget issues has contributed to economic stagnation and outmigration. Critics argue that the state’s tax policies and fiscal management have made it less competitive and less attractive for residents and businesses.
Outcome: Connecticut’s tax burden has become one of the highest in the country, with high income taxes, property taxes, and sales taxes. This has led to significant outmigration of residents and businesses, particularly wealthy individuals and corporations, further shrinking the tax base. The state has also faced fiscal problems, including pension liabilities and budget deficits, despite its high taxes. Additionally, Connecticut has struggled to attract and retain businesses, leading to slower economic growth compared to neighboring states.
Solution: Democrats say we need to send other Democrats to Hartford so they can have a seat at the table with the Majority. I say that is ridiculous. We have seen cases where dissenters to the ruling class in Hartford are punished if they don’t toe the Party line. What we really need are more common-sense fiscal conservatives fighting for common sense solutions. I promise to fight for those values everyday if I am elected to represent Greenwich in the 150th District.
